There is no G in Club Culture
G | GHB | GBL | Gina – nennt es, wie ihr wollt, aber eins steht fest: Die Droge stellt ein Risiko für unsere Orte und die Szene dar. Die Berliner Clubkultur, die international für ihre Möglichkeiten, für Hedonismus und Entgrenzung gefeiert wird, bietet Platz für jede einzelne Person, die ihr mit einem offenem Weltbild begegnet. Wir leben von Kontrasten. Wir sind Projektionsfläche für Fantasien, Zukunftsvisionen und Gesellschaftsutopien. In erster Linie sind wir aber eine Gemeinschaft.
G setzt unsere Gemeinschaft aufs Spiel. Wir sprechen von Clubs als Safer Spaces. Gleichzeitig beobachten wir, dass sich eine Droge verbreitet, die häufig überdosiert wird, besonders hohes Suchtpotenzial aufweist und deren Risiken von Konsument:innen häufig unterschätzt werden. Wir fragen uns: Wie sollen sich Communitys in solch einer Umgebung sicher fühlen? Wie können wir die Freizügigkeit der Berliner Szene hochhalten, wenn unter Einfluss von G Konsens und Konsent an Bedeutung verlieren, wenn G gezielt eingesetzt wird, um Sexualstraftaten zu begehen? Wie können wir die Einzigartigkeit der Berliner Clubs feiern, wenn der Einfluss dieser Droge unser Engagement und unsere Arbeit gefährdet?
Wir, die Berliner Clubs, Spielstätten, Kollektive und Veranstalter:innen sprechen uns entschieden gegen den Konsum von G an unseren Orten und auf unseren Veranstaltungen aus. Genießt die Musik, die Menschen und die Atmosphäre, aber bitte lasst G aus dem Spiel. Seid euch der Risiken bewusst, nehmt Verantwortung füreinander und fühlt euch bestärkt, nein zu G zu sagen. Bietet anderen Personen kein G an. Problematisiert G-Konsum, wenn er in eurem Freund:innenkreis und näheren Umfeld auftritt. Lasst euch helfen, wenn ihr das Gefühl habt, zu viel zu konsumieren oder eine Abhängigkeit zu entwickeln.
Was wir auch klarstellen wollen: Wir möchten und können euch gemeinsam mit den Beratungsstellen in Notsituationen helfen. Bitte zögert nicht und sprecht uns an. Eure Clubs sind für euch da.
There is no G in Club Culture
G | GHB | GBL | Gina – call it what you want but one thing is for sure: the drug is a risk for our spaces and the scene. Berlin’s club culture, which is internationally renowned for its possibilities, for hedonism and dissolution of boundaries, offers room for every single person with an open world view. We live from contrasts. We are a projection surface for fantasies, visions and social utopias. But first and foremost we are a community.
G puts our community at risk. We talk about clubs as safer spaces. At the same time, we observe the spreading of a drug that is often overdosed, has a particularly high addiction potential, and whose risks are often underestimated by consumers. We ask ourselves: How should communities feel safe in such an environment? How can we uphold the laxity of Berlin’s scene when, under the influence of G, consensus and consent lose their meaning, when G is deliberately used to commit sexual crimes? How can we celebrate the singularity of Berlin club culture when the influence of this drug threatens our commitment and work?
We, the Berlin clubs, venues, collectives and organizers, are strongly against the consumption of G in our venues and at our events. Enjoy the music, the people and the atmosphere, but please leave G out of it. Be aware of the risks, take responsibility for each other, and feel empowered to say no to G. Do not offer G to others. Problematize G use if it occurs in your circle of friends and immediate environment. Get help if you feel you are using too much or developing an addiction.
